One of the many music genres to arise in the late 1980s was Independent - or Indie music.
In the UK Indie, late 80s - present you will find a wide variety of British indie guitar-based acts from the "C86" genre onwards. C86 refers to a cassette tape that was released by NME magazine and featured a compilation from bands licensed by British Independent record labels at the time.
